			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Copyright (c) 2008 Mark Albertson&#13;Escalating rates of obesity in this country has generated a flurry of activity among serious researchers and charlatans to discover the ideal method of weight loss. A recent study showed that the four diets is key to successful weight loss regime, but how to continue. Researchers from Tufts-New England Medical Center (Journal of the American Medical Association, January 2005) found in a study of four popular diets that the key to successful weight loss not to the regime itself, but in fact a result of diet. In this one-year study of 160 overweight adults, researchers divided people into four diet:&#13;• Weight Watchers (low calorie)&#13;• The Zone Diet (low glycemic)&#13;• The Ornish diet (low fat)&#13;• The Atkins diet (low carb)&#13;The conclusion of the investigation is that all these systems have worked when the participants in the study continued. The problem is that less than one in four were able to remain in their diet because this year alone.&#13;It should be noted that the most difficult to follow the Atkins diet was followed by the Ornish diet, but according to the study authors, &#8220;there was no single system satisfactory rates of accession.&#8221; Hypnosis has been recognized as a method to help people adhere to their diet, and re-train the mind to &#8220;think&#8221; like a thin person, in order to give a diet completely and develop healthy eating habits that parallel the eating habits of the poor.&#13;That said, the wild and exaggerated claims about hypnosis abound as one of the most attractive to attract the eyes of those who are hungry for a seemingly simple solution to a complex problem.&#13;A careful review of the literature describes several claims about weight loss through hypnosis on the internet as the best over-optimistic and openly fraudulent at worst.&#13;Controversy swirls around the mechanisms by which hypnosis actually contributes to weight loss. Leon (1976) has suggested that hypnosis can help obese people team new healthier eating patterns and maintain them. One author noted that the hypnotic state is characterized by an increased concentration, suggestibility and relaxation (Mott, 1982). Some people are believed to be able to reach this state more easily than others. One called hypnotic &#8220;induction&#8221; whereby a hypnotist with certain procedures to put a person in the state of hypnosis is not a prerequisite for the realization of the state (Mott, 1982). Hypnosis, contrary to the claims of some advertisers can not magically reprogram lnternet people&#8217;s minds. In summary, the methods of hypnosis simple relaxation techniques to formal inductions administered by hypnotists, but should not be considered supernatural in its effects.&#13;The weight loss studies showing that the result of hypnosis alone are few and suffer from methodological problems. Andersen (1985) reported that after eight sessions of treatment per week and 12 weeks of practicing self-hypnosis subjects lost an average of 20. 2 lbs. Cochrane and Friesen (1986) concluded that moderate weight loss was obtained by subjects using hypnosis. The experimental group lost more weight than the controls and maintain weight loss at six months follow up.&#13;Mott (1982) stated that &#8220;although hypnosis is sometimes called a treatment method is more accurate to regard hypnosis as a facilitator of a number of different methods of treatment.&#8221; The study concluded that the use of hypnosis for a moderate weight loss with hypnotherapy is effective. More Hypnosis Weight Control Behavior A number of studies indicate that hypnosis combined with a program of weight control behavior contributes significantly to weight loss. Bolocofsky, Spinler, and Coulthard-Morris (1985) found that adding hypnosis to a behavior program aimed at changing eating habits have increased the amount of weight loss at eight months and two years of monitoring. Both programs of hypnosis in behavior, and were adapted to each individual object in the study. Bolocofsky et al. (1984) that &#8220;unless a person weighed at the beginning of the program was likely to lose weight and maintain the reduction.&#8221; Hypnosis combined with behavioral weight management seems to be more effective small amounts of weight loss. Another study of 45 women found that supplementing a basic program of self-management with hypnosis resulted in a slightly greater than the weight loss to a 3-month follow-up (Barabasz and Spiegel, 1989). The group for which individualized hypnotic suggestions were developed lost more weight than those exposed only to an internal group. Kirsch (1996) observed a weight loss of 6. £ 00 and 11 without hypnosis. 83 pounds with hypnosis is based on a meta-analysis of six studies. Allison and Faith (1996), however, disagreed and maintained that hypnosis only enhances cognitive behavioral psychotherapy little or nothing at all. In the long term, hypnosis with an individualized program of weight control behavior appears to contribute to modest weight loss and maintenance.&#13;Hypnosis operates mainly as a means to increase participants&#8217; attention to suggestions of behavioral programs and improve weight loss. Studies using behavioral treatments successfully &#8220;incentive systems are usually developed to reduce the gap between short-term reinforcement provided during treatment and weight loss long term (Bolocofsky et al., 1985). The Hypnosis can fulfill this role, acting as a psychological support. Hypnosis can help people with learning behaviors and creating healthy eating habits long-term food intake. Subjects are then more likely to incorporate the rules of a particular program schemes in their behavior (Bolocofsky, 1985). Kroger (1970) highlights the similarities between hypnosis and behavioral therapies that share an emphasis on visualization and imagination. The literature suggests that hypnosis is an ideal addition to weight control behaviors that tend to require supplementation to achieve long-term results.&#13;The patchwork problem in studies of weight loss with subjects of different ages and backgrounds is a challenge that the studies of hypnosis as a treatment for weight loss. Andersen (1985) used subjects aged 21-56 years, a considerable expansion. The study subjects were aged 17-67, due to considerable differences in potential between the control group and group hypnosis (Bolocofsky et al., 1985). The fact that subjects were not consistent with regard to age could exaggerate results of weight loss as a result of hypnosis that may more accurately be attributed to age differences. McCabe, Jupp, and Collins (l985) suggests a tendency for young women to stop programs for weight loss compared with older women, leading to a possible masking of potential effects of age. Bolocofsky et al. (1984) indicates that the success of hypnotic weight loss participants were higher in self-control, weighed less at baseline, married, and more expressive. A variety of factors that determine whether a given subject will lose weight through a program of hypnosis for weight loss. Anderson (1985) cites the lack of subject of it as a weakness in his experience. Other studies on subjects that are closely aligned with different characteristics should be conducted to support claims about the effectiveness of hypnosis for weight loss when combined with a behavioral program.&#13;Most studies require weekly consultation with a hypnotist for 8 weeks or more, and more self-hypnosis (Bolocofsky et al. 1984; Bolocofsky et al., 1985, Andersen 1985, Cochrane and Friesen, 1986, McCabe et al. 1985). Advertising on the Internet that claim weight loss occurs after a single hypnotic session, especially the meeting of a group of hypnotics, are frauds selling dreams to desperate customers. Allison and Faith (1996) noted that &#8220;there is currently no panacea for the treatment of obesity and hypnosis is no exception.&#8221; Treatment with hypnosis is not an easy way to weight disorders. To get the full benefits of its use, hypnosis must be practiced regularly for a significant period of time.&#13;Conclusions and limitations&#13;Hypnosis has been shown that effective treatment of mild to moderate weight loss.
